The aim of a visual impact report is to determine and rate the visual impacts associated with the project. Visual impact is therefore measured as the change to the existing visual environment caused by the intervention and the extent to which that change compromises, enhances or maintains the visual quality of the scene as perceived by people visiting or living on the area.
NLA is a leader in this field and has completed over 100 VIA’s in Southern and Central Africa. NLA use computer modeling techniques to simulation the proposed development in the landscape and to produce viewshed analyses, which determine the areas from which the development could be visible. NLA has been awarded an Institute of Landscape Architects of South Africa Merit award for this specialist environmental work.
